Night Games by Anna Krien.

I read this initally because Anna was coming to speak at mpow.

I ended up hosting the talk and being ‘in conversation’ with her.

The book ostensibly follows a rape trial in Melbourne, A young man is charged with rape – at the party where the rape occurred a couple of AFL (Collingwood) players were present and it seems part of the incidents that led to the rape allegation.

So although it is about a court case the book digresses into areas such as why do we let sportsmen treat women so badly and why do we let them get away with it.

Krien looks at incidents involving Matty Johns, the footy show, St Kilda AFL club, Collingwood AFL  and many more.

A very interesting read and one of the 10 Victorian books in the 2014 Summer Read.
