Book 2 in the Catherine Berlin series.

A bitter taste is set in a London heatwave. Catherine Berlin, a 50 something, highly functioning, heroin addict is recovering from her book 1 adventures by taking odd jobs and being paid in booze.

Then a friend from her past lands on her doorstep and reminds Catherine of an old debt and ‘persuades’ CAtherine to go searching for her missing 10 year old daughter.

The search for the missing child is anything but straightforward; Catherine finds herself being chased by drug dealers, and getting involved with the national crime commision.

The story is gritty and bleak, catherine is a majorly flawed character, but the book is a great read.

Highly recommended.
