The ANZ bank now offers what it calls ‘banking in a web 2.0 world’.

It now has an online banking product called smartypig. It is definitely aimed at the social networking generation.

You can make your savings goals public and their is a widget that you can put on your facebook or myspace page so that others (of your choosing) can see how you are going with your savings goals.

From the smartypig webpage:  “SmartyPig launched in the U.S. in 2008 and its one-of-a-kind technology is already turning the “buy now, pay later” mentality on its head. It’s banking in a Web 2.0 world, creating good financial habits and turning the power of peer pressure into a force for good.
